Overview As a Principal Applied Scientist in the Advertiser Guidance team, you will lead a large group to build next-generation agentic AI experiences for Amazon advertisers. You will define the scientific roadmap for recommendations and guidance across millions of advertisers and multiple channels, focusing on safe, scalable AI methods. You will drive rapid experimentation, mentor talent, and translate insights into customer-facing ad-solving products. This is a mission-driven role at the intersection of AI, advertising, and shopping experiences.

Responsibilities- Define and lead the science roadmap for agentic experiences in advertising
- Guide 50+ engineers in developing AI applications for recommendations and guidance to 1.6M+ advertisers across multiple channels
- Develop and apply methods in fine-tuning, reinforcement learning, and preference optimization
- Create evaluation frameworks ensuring safety, reliability, and trust at scale
- Deliver customer-facing products that help advertisers create, optimize, and grow campaigns
- Elevate scientific and technical rigor, selecting best-in-class algorithms, methodologies, and infrastructure
- Communicate learnings to leadership and mentor Applied AI talent across the ads organization
Key requirements- PhD in Computer Science, Statistics or related field
- 5+ years of applied ML experience in customer-facing recommender systems with AI, ML, and NLP
- Hands-on experience designing and prototyping AI solutions for real-world applications
