Overview

In this role you will lead the estimating process for large, complex projects, coordinating with cross-functional teams to prepare accurate cost models and final bids. You will mentor estimators, manage subcontractor pricing, and ensure alignment with project scope and schedule. This position offers impact through shaping bids, improving estimation processes, and contributing to Mortenson's broader mission of delivering high-impact built environments. You will work closely with owners, architects, and engineers in a fast-paced, professional setting.

Responsibilities
  • Lead estimating efforts on large and complex projects
  • Provide conceptual, detailed, self-perform estimates, and cost models
  • Organize and plan estimate preparation, pricing, scheduling, and submission
  • Determine subcontractors for bidding and final pricing
  • Assign work to estimating team and ensure accurate information
  • Conduct quantity surveys, cost estimates, and review subcontractor proposals
  • Research tax laws, collective bargaining agreements, and permits
  • Write and submit Requests for Information
  • Maintain regular communication with team members, owners, architects, and engineers
  • Ensure understanding of project scope and updates among team members and subcontractors
  • Research and analyze historical project data for current applications
  • Assist in selecting building systems and software programs
  • Assist in project scheduling
  • Lead, train, mentor, and manage estimators, including performance evaluations
Key requirements
  • Nine years construction industry experience
  • Six years construction estimating experience
  • LEED AP, DBIA professional, preferred
  • Organized and detailed with proven ability to handle multiple complex projects
  • Basic understanding of construction law and standard business practices
  • Strong customer service, teamwork, initiative, communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills
  • Proficiency with building/estimating techniques and software
