Overview As a Resident Project Representative II / Resident Engineer at HDR, you ensure projects are built to the highest standards by translating plans into on-site action. You'll work within HDR's Field Services team to safeguard quality, safety, and compliance across infrastructure projects. You will collaborate with engineers, inspectors, and contractors to manage documentation, punchlists, and progress, shaping outcomes from highways to water facilities. This role offers leadership opportunities and a direct impact on community-ready infrastructure in an employee-owned culture.
Responsibilities- Read and interpret construction drawings and specs to detect conflicts
- Maintain accurate daily records of contractor activities, labor, equipment, and materials
- Review materials for contract compliance and track quantities/pay estimates
- Attend and/or chair construction progress meetings
- Observe installation and acceptance testing of equipment and systems
- Identify nonconforming work, develop and maintain punch lists
- Prepare record documentation for engineer review/acceptance
- Assist with project audit/closeout
- Supervise junior Resident Project Representatives, Construction Inspectors, testing services, and subconsultants
Key requirements- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Technology, or equivalent experience
- Minimum 5 years of progressive construction experience on multidisciplinary projects
- Fundamental contract understanding and knowledge of construction codes/laws
- Ability to read/interpret drawings and specifications and identify conflicts
- Team-oriented with strong verbal/written communication
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with Primavera or related construction packages
- Active participation in employee-owned culture is a must
