Overview

In this role you will manage lower-severity Bond & Specialty Insurance claims under close supervision, providing legal guidance to underwriting and claim teams. You'll oversee outside counsel, negotiate settlements, and support strategic initiatives to improve claim outcomes. You contribute to a customer-centric claims process and ensure compliance with BSI practices. This is a collaborative, growth-oriented position in a company known for innovation and service.

Responsibilities
  • Analyze, investigate, and resolve lower-severity BSI claims under supervision
  • Retain, monitor, and manage outside counsel and vendors, negotiating settlements as appropriate
  • Prepare management reports on loss development and financial exposure with guidance
  • Coordinate recovery efforts with the Recovery Management Unit for loss mitigation
  • Attend mediations, settlement conferences, and trials to support resolution
  • Provide legal and business support to underwriting, including reviewing contracts and endorsements
  • Ensure stakeholders feel secure and well-informed throughout the claims process
  • Maintain compliance with BSI Claims processes and confidentiality standards
  • Obtain and maintain Insurance Adjuster Licenses and keep CLEs current
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Key requirements
  • One to five years of relevant legal or claim handling experience
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Juris Doctor degree
  • Properly licensed or authorized to practice law in the jurisdiction
  • Valid driver's license or access to transportation for travel to mediations and trials
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities with attention to detail and to build collaborative relationships
