Overview As a Senior Estimator at Stantec, you will lead and coordinate cost estimates for mining and mineral processing projects, working with a cross-disciplinary team to deliver multi-discipline estimates from study through execution. You will drive estimating strategy, ensure quality, and support client communications across global projects. The role combines technical cost planning with leadership of discipline estimators, delivering competitive and defensible estimates that advance large-scale mining and infrastructure initiatives. Responsibilities- Supervise multi-discipline cost estimates and schedules
- Lead mining studies and program-level estimates (PEA, PFS, FS, execution, sustaining capital)
- Develop detailed estimates for mining, processing, civil, mechanical, electrical, and related scopes
- Coordinate input from estimating disciplines and validate takeoffs
- Prepare estimate execution plans and labor-work plans
- Coordinate with clients and stakeholders to ensure scope alignment and defensible estimates
- Identify risks and opportunities and contribute to risk analyses
- Support procurement, pricing, and change/claims activities
- Interface with management and clients for estimating tasks
- Mentor team members in estimating techniques and methodologies
- Maintain industry knowledge to improve estimate quality and competitiveness
- Prepare constructability reviews and project delivery documentation
- Travel for site interfaces and client interactions
Key requirements- Extensive cost estimating knowledge and construction practice
- Experience estimating mining and mineral processing projects (open pit, underground, process plants)
- Ability to lead large studies and coordinate multiple disciplines
- Multi-discipline estimating experience across civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, piping, and utilities
- Familiarity with contract methods and database-based estimating platforms
- Proven client-facing communication and leadership skills
- Bachelor in Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Operations Management, or related field; Mining Engineering preferred
- Minimum 10 years of combined estimating/construction experience
- Field/contractor/preconstruction experience preferred
- Professional certifications (AACE, RICS, ASPE, PMI, DBIA) considered a plus
