Overview In this role you will lead client development for Barge's Industrial market, expanding key relationships and driving revenue growth. You will work cross-functionally with engineering, project delivery, and marketing to position Barge for opportunities from pursuit through delivery. You will manage major industrial accounts and initiatives across sectors, translating client needs into multidisciplinary solutions. This is a strategic, client-facing leadership role at a national engineering firm with a regional focus in Middle Tennessee.
Responsibilities- Develop and execute business development and market growth strategies for the Industrial market in assigned regions
- Build and expand relationships with key industrial clients, prospects, industry groups, and partners
- Identify, qualify, and pursue opportunities aligned with growth objectives
- Collaborate with business units, project managers, and technical professionals on client engagement and capture plans
- Lead client reconnaissance, account planning, pursuit strategy, and opportunity pipeline management
- Support workforce planning by identifying market trends and client needs
- Develop plans to achieve revenue growth, backlog targets, and profitability through projects and contracts
- Collaborate with Marketing and technical teams on go/no-go evaluations and win strategies
- Lead or support proposal development, interviews, and presentations including scope, schedule, and fee discussions
- Represent Barge at industry events to strengthen brand and market presence
- Maintain regular communication with project teams and clients to ensure alignment with expectations and quality
- Facilitate issue resolution and client satisfaction during project delivery
- Maintain accurate CRM data on clients, opportunities, and relationships
- Manage BD expenditures and ROI for client development activities
- Provide office leadership support and assist with local operations and employee engagement
- Perform other duties as assigned
Key requirements- Bachelor's degree
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in AEC, industrial manufacturing, or related technical consulting
- Proven success in business development, client relationship management, account growth, and project delivery
- Experience with industrial clients in sectors like manufacturing, food & beverage, consumer products, aerospace, defense, logistics, or industrial processing
- Established professional network within Middle Tennessee and surrounding industrial markets
- Strong communication, relationship-building, presentation, and negotiation skills
- Proven ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams to secure and deliver complex projects
