Overview In this role, you will lead bridge and transportation projects to deliver quality outcomes for NYSDOT and other clients. You will coordinate cross-disciplinary teams across the full project lifecycle, from planning to closeout, ensuring scope, schedule, and budget alignment. Your work will emphasize client satisfaction, risk management, and adherence to state and federal standards. You will collaborate with stakeholders to shape transportation projects that improve communities and support LDG's growth. Responsibilities- Develops and manages comprehensive project plans for bridge and transportation structure projects aligned with client objectives and NYSDOT requirements
- Oversees bridge projects for NYSDOT, local municipalities, public authorities, and other transportation-related clients
- Manages all phases of project development including planning, preliminary engineering, final design, permitting, construction support, and closeout
- Coordinates across multiple disciplines and stakeholders to ensure successful project execution
- Defines and manages project scope via formal change management processes with budget, schedule, resources, and deliverables impacts
- Develops detailed project schedules, monitors milestones, and ensures timely delivery of commitments
- Manages project budgets, forecasts, revenue projections, and financial performance
- Creates and tracks client proposals, scopes of work, technical and cost proposals, budgets, and schedules
- Prepares workload forecasts and coordinates staffing with discipline managers
- Ensures compliance with NYSDOT, AASHTO, environmental regulations, permitting, and QA/QC procedures
- Promotes QA/QC to improve deliverables and reduce errors
- Manages contract administration including amendments and scope changes
- Develops and executes project communication plans for all stakeholders
- Presents project status reports with progress, budget, schedule, risks, and issues
- Identifies, evaluates, and mitigates project risks in line with policy
- Maintains strong client relationships with NYSDOT, municipalities, public agencies, and transportation stakeholders
- Supports business development by identifying opportunities and pursuing transportation and bridge services
- Coaches and motivates team members, supporting professional development and knowledge sharing
- Leads with professionalism, integrity, accountability, and client service excellence
Key requirements- Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field; Master's preferred
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required
- Minimum of 20 years of related experience, preferably in A/E, with NYSDOT bridge design, rehabilitation, replacement, or construction support experience
- Knowledge of MicroStation, OpenRoads Designer, OpenBridge Designer, and other transportation design software (preferred)
- Strong understanding of NYSDOT procedures, AASHTO LRFD, and NYSDOT Bridge Manual
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management software (Microsoft Project or Primavera)
- Strong leadership, organizational, interpersonal, and time management skills
- Excellent oral and written communication; experience presenting to clients and stakeholders
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team
- Experience with proposal development, fee negotiations, contract management, and transportation business development
