Overview

In this Project Manager role, you plan and oversee construction activities from conception to completion, ensuring on-time, on-budget delivery while upholding quality and safety standards. You coordinate with clients, architects, subcontractors, and site staff to resolve issues and keep the project on track. You will lead planning, budgeting, scheduling, and contract administration, with a focus on efficient collaboration and risk management. This position offers impact across projects and a close link to executive leadership through progress reporting and stakeholder management.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure construction activities progress according to schedule and report delays; run weekly status meetings with team, subcontractors, and clients.
  • Coordinate efforts of clients, architects, consultants, subcontractors and laborers.
  • Maintain adherence to budget, quality, and safety standards.
  • Daily site inspections to verify compliance with building and safety codes and regulations.
  • Assess job specifications to choose construction methods and anticipate constructability or coordination issues.
  • Explain plans and contract terms to administrative staff, subcontractors, and clients.
  • Select and oversee subcontractors for specific scopes (e.g., painting, plumbing).
  • Prepare subcontracts and negotiate revisions, changes, and additions to contracts.
  • Manage project budget, expenses, and risk; review and approve progress payments from subcontractors and vendors.
  • Ensure project documentation and reports are complete.
  • Handle disputes and conflicts, negotiate resolutions, and liaise with clients on deliverables.
  • Serve as a key link with clients and review team deliverables before client handoff.
Key requirements
  • Graduate from a four-year college with major coursework in construction science, engineering, architecture, or related field and/or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in multi-family, wood framing, structural concrete construction projects
  • 3rd party general contractor experience is a plus
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems
  • Advance knowledge of construction management processes, means and methods
  • Thorough knowledge of legal issues and safety standards
  • Ability to plan and organize a team effort
  • Strong client management and morale-boosting ability
  • Conflict and crisis management capabilities
  • Effective time management and decision-making
  • Willingness to travel extensively; physical and mental fitness
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) and MS Project; knowledge of Prolog or similar PM software is a plus
