Senior Risk Control Consultant, Construction Safety

Overview

In this role, you support underwriting by providing in-depth hazards knowledge and risk controls for large, complex accounts. You will work onsite with clients, partner with underwriting and claims teams, and lead specialized risk assessments in construction and other high-exposure sectors. You drive risk reduction through analysis, reporting, and tailored risk control services. This is a chance to shape risk management for major accounts within a collaborative, innovation-driven insurer.

Responsibilities
  • Onsite risk assessments for high-complexity construction and related accounts
  • Partner with Underwriting to select, retain, and grow profitable business
  • Write detailed risk assessment reports with actionable recommendations
  • Engage with cross-functional teams (Underwriting, Claims, Brokers) to service clients
  • Identify uncontrolled exposures and guide corrective actions to mitigate loss
  • Stay current with technical topics, regulatory changes, and emerging issues
  • Serve as Subject Matter Expert in specialty areas to support Level of Expertise consults
  • Contribute to higher-level projects impacting Risk Control or Travelers enterprise
  • Deliver a consistent, valuable customer experience during assessments and services
Key requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field or higher (implied by role)
  • Seven years of experience in safety, risk control/management, or related fields
  • Valid driver's license
  • Ability to obtain/maintain state-specific certifications (e.g., ASP, CSP, ARM, CFPS) as required
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
