Human Resources Manager

Overview

In this role you partner with department leaders to deliver comprehensive HR support across the employee lifecycle, from recruitment to offboarding. You help align HR policies with business needs while fostering a collaborative, compliant workplace. You'll lead employee relations, performance coaching, and policy development to improve retention and engagement. The position offers impact across a professional services firm and opportunities to shape culture, processes, and people strategy.

Responsibilities
  • Partner with department leaders and staff to strengthen relationships, boost morale, and improve productivity and retention.
  • Provide HR guidance and issue resolution for business professional departments; escalate concerns as needed.
  • Foster a safe, positive work environment; collaborate on sensitive matters to reach constructive outcomes.
  • Conduct regular team check-ins, deliver policy guidance, coaching, career development support, and corrective action; leverage performance tools for feedback.
  • Collaborate with Recruiting on staff selection to ensure cultural and departmental fit.
  • Ensure consistent HR policy application and monitor compliance with federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Coach managers on performance management and staff development; clarify expectations and provide actionable direction.
  • Design and coordinate employee relations initiatives and development programs, including orientation and recognition.
  • Develop and improve HR policies and lifecycle processes in compliance with laws; leverage technology to streamline workflows.
  • Under director guidance, manage complex employee relations investigations with thorough documentation.
  • Align HR strategies with firm-wide objectives and take ownership of deliverables and initiatives.
  • Lead new hire orientation for all incoming team members.
  • Collaborate with Benefits to ensure accurate information and proper administration of programs.
  • Manage offboarding logistics and conduct exit interviews, ensuring compliance with procedures.
  • Partner with Workday to maintain accurate employee data and records management.
Key requirements
  • Minimum five years of progressive HR management experience with demonstrated impact across core HR functions.
  • Direct people management and employee relations experience.
  • Strong knowledge of HR principles, practices, and federal/state employment laws.
  • Ability to build trust, influence outcomes, and cultivate relationships across all levels.
  • Experience in diversity, inclusion, collaboration, and accountability.
  • Excellent leadership, strategic thinking, and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in analyzing workforce data to inform planning and decision-making.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to handle sensitive matters with tact and discretion.
  • Ability to work independently in remote, hybrid, and in-office settings.
