Overview

In this role you will coordinate facility projects across the service region, guiding them from programming through close-out. You will align design, budgeting, scheduling and construction with internal and external partners to meet project deliverables. You will support safety, compliance, and the planning of capital and O&M budgets while fostering strong stakeholder relationships. The position offers exposure to multi-phase projects, environmental coordination, and process improvements that boost efficiency. This is a hands-on role with a clear impact on facility performance and safety culture at FirstEnergy.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate the design, construction, renovation, operation, and maintenance of facilities and substations as needed
  • Mentor and coach team members to improve efficiency
  • Promote and adhere to safety standards and Contractor Safety Guidelines
  • Manage multi-party coordination to deliver cost-effective, safe work
  • Create and modify facility specifications and manage related contracts
  • Ensure work meets specifications and is accurately billed
  • Support the Supervisor, Facility Operations with major projects, moves, maintenance, and planning
  • Coordinate environmental compliance activities with the Environmental group
  • Assist with Facilities Capital and O&M budgets and cost-saving analyses
  • Identify long-term capital and O&M projects for the next ten years
  • Foster strong communication with occupants and leadership
  • Apply operations knowledge to drive process improvements
  • Travel to off-site locations and work outside normal hours if needed
  • Perform advanced responsibilities at levels III and IV with greater independence (as applicable)
Key requirements
  • A 2- or 4-year degree in Engineering, Interior Design, Architecture, Business, Finance, Construction Management, or related field, or 5+ years of direct related experience without a degree
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Experience in process/project development, planning/analysis, and performance reporting
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure
  • Ability to build effective relationships across all levels of the organization
