Overview In this role you will perform broad transmission planning studies and risk analyses to support regulatory-compliant, cost-effective utility projects. You will work with cross-functional teams to evaluate performance, costs, and scenarios, delivering technical reports and client-facing presentations. The position offers travel and telecommuting options while contributing to business development and project execution. You will shape planning approaches and adapt standard engineering methods to advance utility system design and planning.
Responsibilities- Conduct transmission planning studies using industry software
- Evaluate regulatory requirements and risks (NERC, FERC, regions)
- Perform data analysis and interpret engineering, financial, and economic results
- Assess life-cycle costs and develop technical/financial assumptions
- Prepare technical reports and client presentations
- Support business development and proposal activity
- Assist project managers with client relationships and contract administration
- Travel up to 15% to client sites; telecommute up to 30 days/year
Key requirements- ABET-accredited Bachelor in Engineering (or equivalent) with 3 years' power system planning/operations experience
- Alternatively, Master in Engineering with 2 years' relevant experience
- 2 years' experience in power system analysis, protection and control, electrical design, or system planning
- Experience evaluating system performance and developing solutions
- Experience in consulting or electric utilities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Willingness to travel (up to 15%) and telecommute (up to 30 days/year)
