Overview

In this role you drive the planning and execution of catering and social events across three Royal Sonesta hotels in Chicago. You bridge client needs with hotel operations to deliver seamless experiences and maximize profitability. You own event details from pre-planning through post-event follow-up, coordinating cross-functional teams and ensuring standards are met on-site. This position offers impact through high-touch event delivery, client relationship management, and revenue-focused operations. Your leadership shapes event outcomes and contributes to Sonesta's guest-centric mission.

Responsibilities
  • Transition bookings from Sales Manager and coordinate program familiarity with the manager
  • Assist in site inspections and selling the Sonesta solution when needed
  • Maintain Delphi inventory accuracy at file turnover and set traces
  • Review contracts for inventory and payment issues; monitor room blocks and pickups
  • Design tailored event diagrams and upsell programs (F&B, amenities, etc.)
  • Prepare group resumes, BEOs, and banquet checks with client sign-off
  • Capture and process rooming lists before cut-off; manage pre-arrival and billing procedures
  • Coordinate with Culinary and Banquet teams on program, setup, and dietary requirements
  • Document revenue impacts for attrition/cancellations with client and accounting
  • On-site ownership of event details and adherence to company standards
  • Lead pre-convention meetings and pre-block rooms as needed
  • Post-event billing accuracy and client follow-up
Key requirements
  • Bachelor degree and minimum three years of catering/convention services leadership experience
  • Ability to analyze reports and implement improvement strategies
  • Strong numerical skills for discounts, commissions, and percentages
  • Effective public speaking and communication to groups
  • Proficiency in Delphi FDC (preferred) and ability to manage BEOs and banquet checks
  • Fluent English; excellent written and oral communication; strong organizational skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays
