Overview

As a Mechanical Construction Technical Services Specialist Lead at Jacobs, you guide on-site technical interpretation of drawings and specifications on world-class data center projects. You will liaise with home office, outside engineers, and AHJs to ensure timely, accurate documentation and change management. You'll lead construction document control and mentor your team while collaborating with field teams to resolve nonconformities. This role sits at the forefront of data center construction, offering growth in cutting-edge technology and methods.

Responsibilities
  • Lead resolution of in-progress issues and disputes by clarifying and expediting home office responses
  • Coordinate with home office engineering, outside firms, and client representatives
  • Provide on-site technical support for released documents, specs, and drawings; contribute to change management
  • Engage with permitting processes and Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs)
  • Work with design-build contractors as they move to the field
  • Communicate effectively with subcontractors to manage drawings and documents in revision-controlled systems
  • Lead the construction document management process and provide oversight through a document control lead
  • Serve as technically competent lead for specification deviation requests within approved processes
  • Collaborate with Field Quality, contractor, and Home Office Engineering to resolve NCRs
  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and guidance to the team
Key requirements
  • 10 years of experience in Mechanical engineering or 15-20 years in construction management for heavy-industrial facilities including data centers and life sciences
  • Understanding of construction means, methods, codes and standards
  • Experience interpreting home office engineering documents for construction
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent, with certified technical training
  • Effective oral and written communication
