Overview In this role you defend clients in complex liability matters at a nationally recognized firm. You will work with a collaborative team across offices to manage cases from inception through resolution, handling strategy, discovery, and client communication. Senior attorneys lead case strategy and mentoring, while earlier-career attorneys build a solid litigation foundation in a busy defense practice. Responsibilities- Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and discovery documents
- Appear in court and manage depositions, mediations, and other litigation events
- Manage a litigation caseload within a collaborative team, with independence based on experience
- Develop case strategy, assess liability and damages, and drive toward efficient resolutions
- Communicate with clients, carriers, experts, opposing counsel, and witnesses
- Prepare status reports and client-facing updates
- Collaborate across offices and practice areas to maintain a cohesive team environment
- Senior candidates: independently manage complex matters and mentor junior attorneys
Key requirements- JD from ABA-accredited law school
- Admitted to practice in California
- 3+ years of litigation experience
- Defense litigation experience preferred
- Experience drafting discovery, pleadings, dispositive and pretrial motions
- Experience handling court appearances, depositions, mediations, and expert discovery preferred
- Experience cross-examining plaintiffs, fact witnesses, or experts preferred
- Trial or second-chair trial experience a plus
- Superior analytical, writing, and communication skills
