Overview

As Finishing Manager, you lead the finishing team to safely produce high-quality adhesive products at the Troy facility. You translate strategy into on-the-floor execution, ensuring safety, performance, and timely output. You will coach Supervisors and Operators, drive continuous improvement, and manage staffing, training, and KPI reporting. This role offers influence over operations, safety culture, and cross-functional collaboration in a lean manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities
  • enforce safety rules and OSHA guidelines; conduct incident investigations and maintain housekeeping standards
  • establish on-floor leadership to set expectations and monitor results
  • manage HR duties: training, assigning work, performance reviews, discipline, and employee engagement
  • lead Supervisors, Leads and Operators to optimize safe, efficient production of quality products
  • ensure proper staffing and scheduling; manage time off and equipment allocation
  • review and align production schedules with priorities for productivity and customer service
  • conduct training (safety, SOPs, housekeeping) and coach problem-solving for self-sufficiency
  • report daily shift performance against KPIs (safety, quality, productivity, service, feedback, machinery issues)
  • drive department projects and track effectiveness; support material storage at WACO warehouse
  • act as safety champion and member of the Safety Steering Committee
  • maintain inventory levels of plant supplies; monitor fill rate and coordinate corrective actions
  • provide technical guidance to meet area goals; implement SOPs; foster continuous improvement
  • communicate company messages and address employee questions/concerns
  • serve as first point of contact for employee issues; ensure compliance with employment laws
  • access payroll system to verify punches and resolve time/attendance questions
Key requirements
  • High School diploma or GED; Bachelor's degree in business or technical discipline preferred
  • minimum 7 years of related professional experience
  • prior supervisory experience in manufacturing
  • knowledge of web handling and coating equipment, or slitting/cutting equipment (preferred)
  • experience in pressure-sensitive adhesives, labeling, or paper (highly preferred)
  • experience with lean manufacturing (continuous improvement, 5S, Kaizen, visual management)
  • strong ERP and warehouse management system knowledge
  • proficiency in Microsoft Office
