Overview In this contract role, you will support a translational research group focused on engineered cellular therapies for blood cancers. You will split time between in vivo rodent work and essential laboratory operations, enabling ongoing studies from tumor models to sample processing. Your work helps advance preclinical research and supports cross-functional teams in a high-volume academic setting. You'll operate within approved protocols and contribute to meticulous data management, with training provided for lab-specific models and workflows.
Responsibilities- Perform in vivo mouse procedures (i.v., i.p., subcutaneous, retro-orbital injections) and administer cell-therapy products
- Collect blood samples and harvest tissues for downstream analyses
- Conduct bioluminescent imaging (IVIS) to monitor tumor burden and cell trafficking
- Prepare single-cell suspensions for flow cytometry and molecular analyses
- Maintain accurate, contemporaneous records in ELN and study data files
- Support colony management and adherence to ULAR/IACUC protocols
- Place and track orders, reconcile invoices, and manage vendor relationships
- Maintain cold storage, inventory, and shared equipment; assist with safety and EHRS compliance
- Onboard/train new lab members and assist Laboratory Manager with space and operations
Key requirements- Bachelor's degree in biology, biochemistry, neuroscience, animal science, or related field
- 1-2 years of hands-on rodent experience (injections, blood collection, tissue harvest)
- Willingness to work with mice, including euthanasia and dissection
- Strong organizational skills and meticulous record-keeping
- Ability to manage competing requests and prioritize
- Clear written and verbal communication; team-oriented
- Proficiency with Excel, email, and shared drives
- Ability to work independently and follow through on recurring tasks
