Overview In this role you will support sponsors of large multi-jurisdictional energy and infrastructure projects, focusing on California regulatory regimes and environmental law. You will work within a cross-functional team shaping permitting, compliance, and litigation strategy to advance energy transition and infrastructure development. The position offers exposure to high-profile projects and bet-the-project litigation in federal and state courts. Responsibilities- Project development & permitting support across federal, state, and local regulatory regimes (CEQA/NEPA focus)
- Administrative proceedings before regulatory bodies (CPU C, CEC, BOEM, CCC, CLSC, Water Boards, local authorities)
- Environmental litigation & enforcement, defending project approvals in court
- Natural resources & land use counseling under ESAs, CWA, NHPA, and related laws with stakeholder engagement
- Transactional support & due diligence for energy/infrastructure acquisitions, divestitures, financing, and real estate
Key requirements- 4-7 years of environmental, land use, or energy regulatory experience at a major Am Law firm or equivalent
- Deep familiarity with CEQA and NEPA and related laws
- Specialized knowledge of CAISO planning process
- Ability to run matters independently and manage client relationships
- Strong analytical, research, drafting, and counseling skills
- Bar Admission: active member in good standing of the State Bar of California
- Experience with energy projects (transmission, wind, solar, storage, water infrastructure, geothermal, carbon capture)
