Overview

In this role you will contribute to accurate patient care by performing routine and advanced lab testing, ensuring specimen quality and reliable results. You will work within Labcorp's lab at UT Knoxville Medical Center, collaborating with a cross-functional team to maintain high throughput in a clinical setting. You will troubleshoot instruments, validate methods, and uphold safety and quality standards. Responsibilities
  • Determine specimen acceptability based on criteria
  • Perform routine and complex laboratory procedures per SOPs
  • Monitor and troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation to ensure reliability
  • Make technical decisions related to testing and problem solving
  • Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls
  • Report accurate and timely test results for patient care
  • Perform preventative maintenance and quality control procedures
  • Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as needed
  • Assist with processing of specimens when required
  • Maintain a safe work environment and PPE usage
Key requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical or Biological Science or MLS degree
  • 1 year or more of clinical laboratory testing experience or MLS degree
  • ASCP or AMT certification (preferred)
  • Understanding of laboratory operations, policies and procedures
  • Experience in a high-volume laboratory environment
  • Ability to work independently and within a team
  • Proficient with computers; familiarity with laboratory information systems
  • High attention to detail; strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to meet physical requirements and pass color vision test
