Job description

Overview

In this role you will perform routine and specialized laboratory tests on blood and body fluids to deliver accurate results. You will work under minimal supervision within a clinical lab team, upholding quality control and instrument maintenance. You will support patient care through efficient testing, troubleshooting, and data collection for regulatory compliance. There may be teaching duties and phlebotomy tasks to support the team and patient needs. This is a hands-on role that contributes to reliable diagnostics and laboratory accreditation goals.

Responsibilities
  • Perform moderate and high complexity tests with accurate and timely reporting
  • Adhere to quality control procedures and analyze data to resolve out-of-range results
  • Conduct routine instrument checks and preventive maintenance
  • Troubleshoot instrument malfunctions and coordinate corrective actions
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and PPE usage
  • Assist with proficiency testing and data collection for accreditation
  • Collect urine drug screens and perform phlebotomy duties as needed
  • Collaborate with team to cover shift duties and department responsibilities
  • Maintain attendance and comply with policies and standards
  • Provide clear communication with healthcare staff about results and issues
Key requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or related field or passing score on Clinical Laboratory Technology Proficiency exam (HEW)
  • 0-2 years of acute care experience
  • ASCP/AMT/AAB Medical Technologist certification or equivalent
  • Strong understanding of laboratory procedures, quality control, and safety regulations
  • Proficiency with laboratory information systems and record-keeping
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication abilities
  • Knowledge of population-specific competencies for patient demographics
