Overview In this role you guide the preconstruction process to align with project goals and owner design teams. You act as the primary touchpoint on negotiated pursuits, shaping estimates, schedules, and risk management. You work with cross-functional teams, owners, and subcontractors to deliver compelling bids and solid constructability decisions. This is a client-facing, impact-driven position at McCarthy, blending technical rigor with collaboration to drive successful projects.
Responsibilities- Lead interview processes and bid discussions as Bid Captain on pursuits
- Cultivate relationships with owners, subcontractors, vendors, and internal clients
- Track and manage project budgets and ensure alignment with contractual requirements
- Prepare qualification documents and coordinate contract reviews
- Oversee preconstruction and construction schedules and related deliverables
- Support staff training, risk management, and safety/EOE programs
- Present documentation to owners in an organized manner
- Represent McCarthy in design coordination meetings and advise on design decisions
- Participate in prequalification processes, RFP/RFQ responses, and buyout/log management
Key requirements- Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Architecture or Engineering
- 5-10 years of estimating, design management and/or field management experience
- Deep knowledge of construction principles and practices
- Experience managing preconstruction for diverse projects
- Experience dealing with subcontracts, subcontractors and/or self-perform work
- Proven leadership in team ventures and external relationship management
- Self-starter with high motivation
- Strong communication skills and ability to influence diverse audiences
