Overview As a Structural Biology Specialist at the UCSF IND, you will determine atomic-resolution structures of disease-relevant macromolecules to inform drug discovery. You will work with state-of-the-art cryo-EM/cryo-ET facilities to reveal structural insights into neurodegenerative proteins and their interactions with targets. You'll collaborate across disciplines to translate structural findings into therapeutic strategies. This role offers the chance to contribute to cutting-edge neurodegenerative disease research in a renowned institute. You will engage in mentorship and continuous learning within a premier scientific community.
Responsibilities- Solve high-resolution cryo-EM/cryo-ET structures of disease-relevant filaments
- Develop co-structures with therapeutic targets
- Support drug discovery and related research through structural insights
- Collaborate across disciplines within IND and UCSF to advance cryo-EM initiatives
- Communicate findings to team members and contribute to project planning
Key requirements- 2+ years in cryo-EM or cryo-ET including sample prep, microscope operation, data collection, analysis, and 3D structure determination OR 2+ years in high-resolution protein structure determination with X-ray or NMR and exposure to cryo-EM
- Education as described for various specialist levels (Junior/Assistant/Associate/Full) with corresponding years of experience
