Overview As a Research Scientist, you will co-lead the development of test methods and emission measurement campaigns while advancing digital twin and simulation capabilities. You will collaborate with diverse teams, industry partners, and students to translate field data into validated models. The role spans fieldwork, software development, and dissemination of findings to sponsors and the broader community. This position sits within CSU's Zimmerle Research Group at METEC, focusing on emissions from oil and gas operations and solution research.
Responsibilities- Develop digital twins and related simulation models with a multidisciplinary team
- Identify foundational models and implement them into working software with open source considerations
- Integrate digital twins with hardware simulations and sensor/instrument systems
- Plan and conduct field data collection and analysis to validate models
- Prepare sponsor reports, present at conferences, and draft manuscripts
- Manage multiple projects within time and budget constraints
- Coordinate cross-party communications, engage vendors, and mentor students and junior staff
- Identify research needs and develop plans, budgets, and proposals for future work
Key requirements- PhD in engineering, physics, or related physical science, mathematics or computer science
- Strong data acquisition and analysis experience
- Experience with computer simulation of complex systems
- Strong software skills combining data, simulations, and measurements
