Overview

As Lab Supervisor, you oversee routine laboratory operations, ensuring adequate staffing and timely, accurate tests. You will lead hiring, training, evaluations, and payroll while shaping lab policies and scheduling. You'll monitor quality systems, regulatory compliance, and inventory to support safe, efficient lab work. This role sits within a large, mission-driven healthcare system that values teamwork and continuous improvement. You'll drive operational excellence in a high stakes environment and contribute to patient care through reliable laboratory services.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise subordinates in testing phases and perform delegated CLIA-Director-defined tasks
  • Prepare schedules, assign work, and monitor personnel
  • Assist in hiring, onboarding, training, evaluating, disciplining, and terminating staff
  • Contribute to policy and procedure development for laboratory operations, staffing, and scheduling
  • Escalate staffing or operational issues to management promptly
  • Oversee inventory to maintain adequate supplies and proper quantities
  • Support implementation of quality assurance programs and maintain regulatory-compliant records
  • Review quality control, proficiency testing, instrument maintenance, QA records, and corrective actions
  • Assist with annual budget preparation and monitoring
Key requirements
  • 4 years of experience in a laboratory setting
  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent work experience)
  • ASCP certifications or equivalent licensure (multiple listed: BB, C, CG, CT, H, HT, HTL, M, MB, SBB, SC, SH, SM; CHS-ABHI, CHT-ABHI, CLS, MLS, MT, SCT, SCYM, SMB)
  • Knowledge of laboratory regulations, protocols, and procedures
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to communicate and follow instructions clearly
  • Proficiency in appointments, scheduling, payroll software, EMR, and Microsoft Office
  • Team leadership, training, and performance evaluation
