Overview In this role you will oversee the clinical laboratory's day-to-day operations to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and quality. You will partner with the Laboratory Administrative Director to standardize processes, improve satisfaction for patients, physicians, and staff, and help meet regulatory standards while controlling costs. You will manage staff, training, and performance, and ensure safe, compliant operations across areas assigned. This is a hands-on leadership role that impacts overall laboratory quality, efficiency, and institutional goals.
Responsibilities- Oversee daily lab operations to ensure smooth, compliant workflow
- Manage workload, staff competency, and performance evaluations
- Troubleshoot specimen problems and ensure timely/accurate testing
- Monitor quality control, instrument maintenance, and corrective actions
- Maintain inventory levels within budget
- Drive quality improvement goals and regulatory compliance
- Monitor instrument setup and testing policies; review validation studies
- Recruit, train, and appraise staff; manage personnel scheduling to meet budget
- Provide regular communication to staff and coordinate with other departments
Key requirements- Bachelor degree with 3 years of MT/MLS/MLT/HT/HTL/CT; or credentialed equivalents
- Master degree with 1 year of credentialed MT/MLS/MLT/HT/HTL/CT; QCYM considered
- One of: CT, HTL, MT/MLS, or QCYM
- Experience in regulatory/compliance within healthcare (preferred)
- Credentialing status or progress if applicable
