Overview As Associate Counsel, you handle lower-complexity litigation from inception through trial under mentorship. You'll support insured clients and claim partners with case analyses, research, and persuasive writing while building trusted relationships. The role blends litigation skills with client service and cross-functional collaboration to deliver solid outcomes. You'll work with a national legal organization that values development and local client focus, across multiple California locations.

Responsibilities- Acquire and apply effective litigation/negotiation skills
- Conduct legal research and produce persuasive writing and presentations
- Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and discovery under supervision
- Attend court events, depositions, and related appointments
- Provide case analysis and strategic recommendations to clients and partners
- Build and maintain internal/external client and business partner relationships
- Utilize case management systems and automation tools
- Travel to meet business needs
- Perform other duties as assigned
Key requirements- 1-3 years of litigation experience as a practicing attorney
- Persuasive legal writing and oral advocacy skills
- Proficiency in legal research tools & technology
- Ability to foster collaborative relationships with colleagues, customers, and partners
- Strong communication, sense of urgency, and responsiveness
- Sound decision making and negotiation skills
- Flexible and agile mindset to take on evolving challenges
- Juris Doctorate or equivalent international degree; active license in good standing
