Overview In this role you help shape public involvement and communications for Florida's Turnpike Enterprise projects. You will work with a team of communications professionals to translate project details into accessible information for communities and stakeholders. You'll manage outreach campaigns, respond to inquiries, and support public meetings and media relations. Your work drives transparent engagement across neighborhoods amid construction and operations, contributing to safer and more informed communities. Responsibilities- Attend construction progress meetings as needed to understand issues
- Create information deliverables (fact sheets, presentations, graphics)
- Collaborate with project managers to address construction-related information
- Answer toll inquiries from internal and external customers
- Act as liaison between Turnpike projects and communities in active construction zones
- Plan and execute public outreach campaigns prior to construction
- Coordinate mass mailers for construction projects
- Research and resolve issues related to construction, maintenance, and traffic operations
- Draft and verify responses for media requests and elected officials inquiries
- Promote Turnpike programs by engaging media, professional groups, and community organizations
- Coordinate and participate in public meetings with neighborhood groups and stakeholders
- Develop educational and promotional materials for meetings and conferences
- Organize events such as groundbreakings, openings, and public meetings
- Create social media content and monitor posts
- Develop content for project webpages and newsletters
- Respond to public inquiries and represent the client in issue resolution
Key requirements- 3-5 years of experience
- Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, or related field
- Public involvement or community engagement experience on transportation projects
- Ability to interact effectively with diverse groups and levels of leadership
- Excellent verbal, writing, and presentation skills
- Ability to work independently and with teams, show initiative
- Flexibility to work beyond standard hours
- Strong time management and attention to detail
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
