Overview Senior Estimator at Stantec leads multi discipline cost estimates and schedules for mining and mineral processing projects, ranging from small scopes to multi billion programs. You will coordinate discipline estimators, work with cross functional teams, and guide large studies from early feasibility to execution. The role blends technical cost estimation with project leadership to deliver competitive, defensible estimates. This is a hands on, client facing position shaping major mining and infrastructure initiatives with global reach.

Responsibilities- Supervise and coordinate multi discipline cost estimates and schedules
- Lead mining studies and program level estimating (PEA, PFS, FS, execution, sustaining capital, portfolio)
- Develop detailed estimates for mining, process plant, civil, structural, mechanical, piping, electrical, tailings, water management, site infrastructure, utilities, and indirect costs
- Collaborate with estimators to develop cost estimates and schedules
- Coordinate input parameters for estimates and schedules
- Validate material takeoffs and quantities from drawings
- Compile information from all estimating disciplines into one estimate
- Create estimate execution plans with strategy, scope, staffing, and timelines
- Prepare labor force work plans and basis of cost estimate reports
- Establish site specific estimating criteria including wage and productivity rates
- Perform quality control on documents and provide design solutions
- Support procurement, change and claims valuation, and negotiations
- Prepare construction logistics plans and constructability reviews
- Serve as primary cost estimating contact for clients and stakeholders
- Maintain awareness of industry trends and apply lessons learned to improve quality and competitiveness
Key requirements- Extensive technical knowledge of cost/estimating, construction practice, and engineering standards
- Experience estimating mining and mineral processing projects (open pit and/or underground, process plants, tailings, water management, site utilities)
- Proven ability to lead large studies and coordinate multiple disciplines
- Multi discipline estimating experience coordinating civil, structural, architectural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, controls, and specialty scopes
- Advanced understanding of contract methods and their application to estimating
- Experience with Estimating platforms (InEight Estimate, Sage Timberline Estimating, On Screen Take Off, MCASES MII, IPE, HCSS or similar)
- Experience with scheduling software (Primavera P6, MS Project)
- Ability to travel for site reconnaissance and client interfacing (domestic/international)
- Strong leadership, mentoring, and client facing skills
- Minimum of 10 years in estimating and construction roles
- Field/contractor/preconstruction experience preferred
- Professional certifications (AACE, RICS, ASPE, PMI, DBIA) are assets
