Overview

In this role you drive readiness for radioactive operations within the DOE Hanford program, coordinating cross-functional oversight and providing expert counsel to ensure safe startup and ongoing readiness. You work with an engagement team on governance, assessments, and technical reviews to support WTP and ORP readiness activities. You mentor staff, facilitate decision making, and help optimize readiness processes from a line-management perspective. This is a mission-critical, government-facing position that blends technical rigor with program management in a high-hazard environment.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee and coordinate readiness oversight strategies and present status to Line Management Review Board
  • Plan strategic activities to achieve and verify readiness for radioactive operations
  • Mentor ORP staff to conduct readiness activities safely
  • Provide professional counsel on development and implementation of readiness programs
  • Advise on improvements to ORP readiness programs and coordinate cross-function interfaces
  • Perform technical reviews for quality, adequacy, and reliability against criteria
  • Support WTP schedule, risk management, and procedural development
  • Consult with DOE Hanford Site organizations to resolve conflicts and prevent delays
  • Prepare assessment reports and follow up on issues and adverse conditions
  • Participate in weekly coordination meetings and integrated project teams
  • Support Line Management Review Board process and governance
  • Contribute to integration of readiness and safety management program reviews
  • Document deliverables and ensure milestone delivery
  • Travel as required and work at Hanford site with telework option
Key requirements
  • Significant DOE readiness/system startup experience within past five years
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and related tools
  • Security clearance eligibility and U.S. citizenship
  • Expert knowledge of DOE orders, standards, and procedures for safe startup of nuclear facilities
  • Experience interface with senior management and environmental/safety controls
  • Knowledge of Hanford Site mission and priorities
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Continued training in HGET and WTP site access
  • Advanced Microsoft Office proficiency; familiarity with Visio, data analytics tools, and Adobe Acrobat (as indicated)
