Overview

As a Risk Control Consultant, you help underwriters by providing in-depth risk insights and management strategies for complex accounts. You work onsite with clients to evaluate hazards, propose controls, and communicate actionable recommendations. You partner across underwriting, claims, and brokers to protect profitability while reducing losses. You apply loss analysis and current regulatory knowledge to shape risk mitigation, delivering a strong, value-driven customer experience.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct risk assessments for moderate to high complex accounts and multi-location or large fleet exposures
  • Onsite client visits with 20%-50% field presence, including long-distance travel
  • Partner with Underwriting to select, retain, and grow profitable business
  • Produce technically detailed risk reports with clear recommendations
  • Identify uncontrolled exposures and drive corrective actions to mitigate losses
  • Provide risk control solutions using Travelers' resources and stay updated on regulatory trends
  • Assist customers through loss analysis and readiness to tailor risk control services
  • Build and maintain cross-functional relationships with Underwriting, Claims, Risk Control Specialists, and Brokers
  • Maintain a valued customer experience during assessments and service encounters
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Key requirements
  • Five years of experience in safety, risk control/management or related fields
  • Valid driver's license
  • Required certifications or the ability to obtain state-specific certifications (e.g., ASP, CSP, ARM, CFPS)
  • Strong insurance industry knowledge and business acumen
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven collaboration skills in a team-oriented environment
  • Critical thinking and influencing abilities for driving business outcomes
