Overview In this role you will provide essential cost estimating support for DoD manufacturing projects, applying established estimating principles to straightforward tasks. You will collect and analyze material and labor data, drive task ownership, and produce documentation for review by senior staff. You will collaborate with engineering, procurement, and project management teams to clarify requirements and ensure compliant, timely estimates. Responsibilities- Develop and prepare cost estimates for straightforward manufacturing projects or components
- Collect and analyze data on materials, labor, and vendor quotes using historical data and benchmarks
- Own assigned estimating tasks and contribute to project deliverables
- Document and report estimate details for senior staff and project managers
- Collaborate with engineering, procurement, and project management; interface with external vendors/customers as needed
- Identify and advocate process improvements to estimate accuracy and efficiency
- Ensure estimating activities comply with DoD regulations and contract requirements; support audits and QA
- Mentor junior staff and share best practices within the team
Key requirements- Bachelor in Engineering, Business, Finance, or related field, or equivalent work experience
- 2+ years in manufacturing, cost estimating, or related discipline
- Proficiency with cost estimating tools and Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently on simple tasks and as part of a team
- Experience interfacing with internal/external customers (preferred)
