Overview As Electrical Estimator, you will prepare comprehensive cost estimates for electrical work and support bids from initial analysis to final GMP proposals. You will identify risks, coordinate with subcontractors and vendors, and ensure estimates align with project requirements and contract documents. You will contribute to pre-bid activities, design-build and conceptual estimating, and facilitate a smooth handoff to operations. This role offers a chance to shape cost strategies for commercial and industrial projects within a collaborative team.
Responsibilities- Analyze drawings, specs, and documents to prepare detailed electrical cost estimates
- Identify risks and incorporate risk management in estimates
- Prepare cost breakdowns, timelines, and bid proposals
- Engage with subcontractors and suppliers for current pricing
- Participate in pre-bid meetings and site visits
- Review and adjust estimates with scope or cost changes
- Support project handoff to operations
- Develop RFP deliverables that meet expectations
- Assist in developing cost codes for project scope
- Obtain and evaluate vendor/subcontractor quotes for best pricing
- Prepare detailed proposal letters or bid forms
- Participate in estimate reviews with management
- Prepare GMP proposals and estimates in various formats
- Design-build and conceptual estimating
- Review contract documents for accuracy and alignment with pricing
Key requirements- Strong understanding of electrical systems and construction methods for commercial/industrial projects
- Knowledge of NEC, NFPA 70E, and related electrical codes
- Proficient in estimation software (Accubid Anywhere) and MS Office (Excel, Word)
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Strong attention to detail and multi-project management
- Effective communication with clients, suppliers, and project teams
- 5+ years of electrical estimating experience in commercial/industrial sectors
- Prior design-build estimating experience preferred
