Overview

In this role, you will lead the MWR Fitness program at a U.S. military base, overseeing fitness, intramural sports, and aquatics. You'll work with the MWR Manager to ensure safe operations, schedule events, and maintain facilities and health communications. You will partner with command and units to promote events and uphold safety standards while delivering high-quality customer service. This role offers influence on morale and recreation services, within a mission-driven team. You'll contribute to a structured, safety-focused, cross-functional environment that supports deployed personnel.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate the fitness program, including orientations and safe techniques
  • Schedule and manage intramural and team sports events
  • Oversee the Aquatics facility operations and staffing
  • Maintain health and fitness schedules and bulletin boards
  • Interface with command officials and coordinate promotions and events
  • Perform preventive maintenance on fitness equipment and enforce safety standards
  • Ensure proper use of equipment and provide safety guidance
  • Oversee inventory of government-issued equipment
  • Deliver strong customer service and leadership to the team
  • Ensure readiness for contingencies and compliance with directives
Key requirements
  • US Citizen
  • Bachelor degree or 3+ years in recreation/fitness equivalent
  • 5 years of specialized experience at NF-4 or Middle Manager level
  • 2+ years coordinating organized team sports and event scheduling
  • Certification as Fitness Instructor (NOCA, NCCA, Cooper Institute, ACE, IFPA, ACSM)
  • Sports Official Certification (Volleyball/Softball/Flag Football/Basketball/Soccer)
  • American Red Cross Lifeguard certification or ability to obtain within 60 days
  • CPR/first aid/AED certification
  • Navy Star Service Training equivalent customer service training
  • Passport with 12 months validity and 4 blank visa pages
  • Current U.S. driver's license
  • Excellent computer skills (MS Office)
  • Certifications valid through contract period
  • Knowledge of sports facilities/grounds maintenance and officiating
