Overview In this role you will oversee inpatient and outpatient laboratory operations to ensure safe, compliant, and timely patient care. You will coordinate 24/7 lab services, allocate resources, and drive efficiency across the Laboratory team and affiliates. You will implement protocols, quality activities, and staff development while managing budgets and regulatory requirements. Your work supports smooth, compliant operations that align with the hospital's mission and patient care goals. This is a hands-on leadership role with a strong focus on process improvement and cross-functional collaboration.
Responsibilities- Lead and supervise day-to-day laboratory operations across inpatient and/or outpatient settings
- Plan and manage 24/7 operations and resource deployment to ensure efficient service delivery
- Develop and enforce protocols, procedures, and practices in compliance with standards
- Oversee recruitment, hiring, and ongoing performance management of laboratory staff
- Coordinate integration with affiliate operations and ensure timely prioritization and issue resolution
- Lead quality-related activities including training, competency assessment, equipment maintenance, quality control, and accreditation readiness
- Develop and manage capital and operating budgets to meet financial targets
- Monitor regulatory compliance and continuously drive process improvements
- Support customer satisfaction and effective collaboration with other departments
Key requirements- Bachelor in Clinical Laboratory Science or Biology or healthcare-related field
- Licensed Clinical Lab Scientist (CLSL)
- 8 years of recent relevant lab operations experience
- Strong understanding of operating workflows and cross-department impact
- Leadership experience with team building and coaching
- Knowledge of state/federal/local and accreditation standards
- Budget development and financial management experience
- Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and make sound decisions
