Overview In this Senior Biologist role, you apply your field biology expertise to support a diverse, multi-disciplinary team delivering siting, permitting, and environmental analyses for energy, transportation, and development projects. You will work across field and office settings, guiding regulatory strategy and ensuring high-quality environmental documentation. You'll collaborate with clients, regulators, and technical staff to advance projects from planning through permitting. This is a client-facing, impact-focused role at a leading environmental consultancy.

Responsibilities- Manage projects and supervise staff on renewable energy, oil and gas, and development projects
- Coordinate field tasks such as surveys, vegetation mapping, delineations, and compliance monitoring
- Provide training, coaching, and mentorship to junior staff
- Plan, prepare, and review environmental assessment reports
- Contribute to proposals and define scope, cost, and schedules
- Engage with professional associations and committees to build the corporate profile
- Coordinate with clients and regulators to communicate survey results and reports
- Lead development of permitting strategies and agency negotiations
- Assist teams in pursuing new business opportunities and proposals
- Maintain target 75-80% direct project utilization and travel as needed
Key requirements- Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences, Environmental Science, Ecology, Natural Resources Management, or related field; 10+ years of experience
- Strong background in biological resources surveys, reports, and impact assessment
- Experience delivering high-quality work within cross-disciplinary project teams
- Excellent written and verbal communication and organizational skills
- Business development experience or ability to cultivate client/regulator relationships
- Proven ability to analyze scientific data, maps, and drawings with strong problem-solving skills
- Deep knowledge of southern California flora, fauna, and habitats; experience with floristic surveys and species-specific protocols
- Experience or permits for special-status species (desirable)
- California driver's license and ability to travel; willingness for fieldwork and regulatory interactions
- Knowledge of CEQA/NEPA, FESA/CESA, MBTA/BGEPA, CWA, Porter-Cologne, FGC, and other regulatory frameworks
