Overview In this HR Director role at a growing community bank, you will own the full spectrum of people functions and act as a strategic advisor to the leadership team. You'll shape the people strategy to support growth, culture, and compliant operations across the organization. Expect hands-on responsibilities-from policy to payroll-while guiding managers to address performance, relations, and workforce needs. You'll work closely with the President and CEO to align HR initiatives with the bank's mission and growth trajectory. This role combines autonomy with cross-functional collaboration and has a meaningful impact on how the bank scales its people practices.
Responsibilities- Administer core HR functions: recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, performance management, training, benefits administration, compliance, and policy development
- Serve as trusted advisor to supervisors, managers, and senior leadership on hiring decisions, performance issues, disciplinary actions, and terminations
- Coach employees on performance, conduct, and workplace concerns
- Ensure consistent application of policies and procedures and recommend corrective action as needed
- Administer employee benefits programs and payroll integration coordination
- Manage full recruitment lifecycle: postings, screening, interviews, references, and ATS
- Oversee EEO and affirmative action compliance, planning, documentation, and reporting
- Administer FMLA and PTO programs, including notices and payroll/timekeeping coordination
- Maintain confidential personnel files and required employment documentation
- Write, review, and maintain job descriptions across the organization
- Manage employee uniform program, vendor coordination, and inventory
- Consult with external legal counsel on compliance and employment matters
- Complete required BSA/AML training and perform duties in compliance with internal policy
Key requirements- 7+ years of progressive HR experience across employee relations, benefits administration, recruitment, and compliance
- Banking or financial services background a plus
- Experience working independently in a highly autonomous, generalist role
- No direct reports but ability to influence HR practice across the bank
- PHR/SPHR or SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP preferred; actively pursuing certification considered
