Overview In this role you will lead and shape the Building Specialty Services team in the US Northeast, driving technical excellence and business growth in building envelope solutions. You will collaborate with architects, contractors, and stakeholders to deliver envelope design, review, testing, and field services for new and rehabilitated buildings. You'll mentor staff, guide proposals, and advance thought leadership in building science. This position offers a visible, impact-driven opportunity to elevate project outcomes and client value.
Responsibilities- Lead and manage project teams (1-5 staff) to deliver building envelope services on time and on budget
- Define project scope and design criteria for complex envelope projects
- Review design documents, shop drawings, and submittals for water intrusion, air leakage, vapor diffusion, thermal performance, and differential movement
- Conduct field reviews and mock-up verification on new and rehabilitation projects
- Perform field testing of envelope elements and report results
- Prepare site visit reports and track deficiencies to resolution
- Provide expert advice on design processes and construction methods; conduct forensic analysis of envelope failures
- Lead business development and write proposals for new work
- Deliver technical presentations and thought leadership within and outside the firm
- Mentor entry-level staff in technical and non-technical skills
- Travel regionally and work on active construction sites
- Contribute to building science research and technical papers
- Lead and participate in client meetings with architects, contractors, and consultants
Key requirements- Minimum 10 years of experience in assessing, detailing, testing, or constructing building envelope systems
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Architecture, or Science with Building Science background
- Strong knowledge of flashing, waterproofing, roofing, cladding, rain screens, and air barriers
- Practical knowledge of energy code, rain screen principles, air barriers, and thermal performance
- Registered Professional; valid driver's license; clean MVR
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; knowledge of Bluebeam, CAD and/or Revit
- Project management skills for concurrent projects with budgets > $200,000
- Ability to work on active construction sites and travel weekly regionally
