Overview In this role you will lead the strategy and governance of the enterprise AI Gateway platform built on Azure APIM, Foundry, and related AI services. You will partner with architecture, security, and engineering teams to deliver secure, scalable AI capabilities and ensure platform reliability, compliance, and cost effectiveness. You will drive technical standards, operational procedures, and cross-functional collaboration to enable safe consumption of AI services and internal tools by agents and copilots. This is a hands-on leadership position with a clear impact on enterprise AI adoption and governance.

Responsibilities- Define and maintain platform standards, policies, and governance for AI services and APIs
- Design observability, monitoring, logging, and usage analytics for AI workloads and endpoints
- Oversee platform administration including environment provisioning, capacity planning, and incident response
- Lead engineering best practices for AI lifecycle management, API publishing, and developer onboarding
- Collaborate with Enterprise Architecture to implement data protection and responsible AI controls
- Provide technical guidance on architecture, risk, and business value to technical and executive stakeholders
- Evaluate new AI technologies and provide implementation guidance to support enterprise AI initiatives
- Review plans from other engineers and align them with architectural principles and business objectives
Key requirements- 8+ years of experience administering Azure API Management (APIM) including lifecycle management, security policies, and governance
- Bachelor's degree in a related field; Masters or MBA preferred
- Knowledge of API security (OAuth, OpenID Connect), Managed Identities, Azure RBAC, and enterprise auth frameworks
- Experience with programming languages (C#, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, or Python)
- Experience with Microsoft Foundry, Azure AI Services, Azure OpenAI, AI Gateway technologies, or enterprise AI platform administration preferred
- Experience deploying and managing MCP servers preferred
- Understanding of AI model usage, token/credit-based consumption, capacity planning, and cost optimization
