Senior Engineer - Mechanical Electrical Structural (K-12)

Overview

As a Senior Engineer in the K-12 Education sector, you help shape sustainable, integrated building design. You'll lead multidisciplinary teams to produce quality construction documents and manage schedules within budget, while fostering client relationships and business growth. You'll work closely with sector leadership to execute strategy and advance the firm's climate action commitments. This role offers meaningful impact through education projects and cross-disciplinary collaboration.

Responsibilities
  • Lead engineering project execution to align with budget, schedule, and scope
  • Coordinate with architects, engineers, clients, and vendors to deliver integrated building designs
  • Track milestones, ensure quality standards, and prepare status reports
  • Facilitate client and staff meetings, documenting decisions and actions
  • Engage in business development, contributing to RFPs and client interviews
  • Lead design on significant projects and manage technical reviews across disciplines
  • Represent the firm in meetings with owners, clients, and suppliers
Key requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE)
  • 10+ years of engineering experience including K-12 sector design
  • Strong understanding of design-construction process and cross-disciplinary communication
  • Proven ability to manage projects and lead teams
  • Knowledge of local building and energy codes
  • Demonstrated record of consistent quality work
  • Ability to lead others and foster teamwork
  • Knowledge of DLR Group climate action commitments (AIA2030, MEP2040, SE2050)
  • Strong communication (verbal and written)
  • Leadership and collaboration
  • Time management and organization
  • Engineering design experience in K-12 sector
  • Knowledge of building codes and sustainability standards
  • Project management and scheduling
