Overview In this role you lead laboratory operations, guiding staff, processes, and compliance to support safe, accurate testing. You partner with leadership to align patient care with regulatory requirements and quality standards. You will mentor volunteers and drive a quality-driven lab environment within a mission-driven organization. Responsibilities- Manage laboratory staff including hiring, training, coaching, evaluating, and disciplining to build a qualified team and achieve operational success
- Collaborate with Medical Director to ensure appropriate patient care
- Oversee IRL participation in the American Rare Donor Program and Diagnostics Manufacturing Division
- Serve as a resource for supervisors on complex technical issues
- Perform and interpret donor/patient testing procedures and ensure quality control per regulations
- Identify testing irregularities, diagnose causes, and resolve problems
- Plan and ensure long-range goals for supervisory staff and staffing needs
- Ensure regulatory compliance and promote a quality-driven environment
- Oversee laboratory training and maintain departmental procedures manuals
- Perform other related duties as necessary
- Standard Schedule: Day shift
Key requirements- Bachelor in Biological Science (or related field) and SBB (ASCP) certification or equivalent
- Minimum 6 years of directly related experience including 2 years in high complex immunohematology testing
- 3 years of management experience in an IRL or equivalent hospital setting
