Locum Tenens Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $4,900-$5,250
- Location: Syracuse, New York
- Healthcare Setting: Inpatient, hospital-based vascular surgery
- Patient Population: Adult and geriatric
- Start Date: October 19, 2026; earlier availability may be considered
- Contract Duration: 13-week initial term with potential for ongoing coverage
- Schedule: Approximately 40 hours per week; a 3x12 schedule may be possible when staffing permits
- Shift Duration: Primarily 10-hour shifts, with schedules that may also include 12-hour shifts; typical hours include 7 a.m.-5 p.m., 7 a.m.-7 p.m., 9 a.m.-9 p.m., and 7 p.m.-7 a.m.
- Call: In-house and beeper call, typically 1-2 days per week; rotating nights and weekends required
- Patient Volume: Approximately 15-20 total patients daily, with 3-5 individual rounds and approximately 7-8 operating room cases

Vascular Surgery Physician Assistant Requirements
- Physician Assistant with RNFA qualification or experience
- Active New York Physician Assistant license at the time of submission
- Current NCCPA certification
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications
- Current DEA registration
- 2-3 years of vascular surgery experience required
- Cardiac surgery experience that included vascular surgery coverage may be considered
- Comfort working in a high-acuity inpatient environment with adult and geriatric patients
- Flexibility to work varied shifts, rotating nights, weekends, and call coverage
Vascular Surgery Physician Assistant Responsibilities
- Provide inpatient medical management and daily rounding for vascular surgery patients
- Manage diabetes, hypertension, acute illness, and other medical needs during the perioperative period
- Deliver preoperative and postoperative care for vascular surgery patients
- First assist approximately five vascular surgeons in the operating room
- Assist with open vascular procedures, including peripheral bypass, carotid surgery, arteriovenous fistula creation, and open abdominal aortic surgery
- Perform or assist with bedside procedures such as suturing, PermCath removal, wound vac management, dressing changes, and wound care
- Cover scheduled in-house night and weekend shifts as part of a rotating team
- Respond to in-house or beeper call needs, including operating room coverage after scheduled shifts when required
- Document patient care accurately and efficiently in Epic
