Medical Administrative Assistant Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $750-$810
- Location: On-site in Farmington, Connecticut
- Assignment Start: October 30, 2026
- Assignment End: June 10, 2027
- Duration: Approximately 32 weeks
- Schedule: Full time, Monday-Friday
- Shift: 8-hour days, with flexibility to work between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.; includes a 30-minute unpaid meal break
- Hours: 40 hours per week
- Healthcare Setting: Outpatient medical practices, patient access, and clinical communications
Medical Office Assistant Job Requirements
- At least 1 year of experience in medical practice communication, healthcare scheduling, clinical office administration, medical reception, or a high-volume call center
- Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
- Clear and professional telephone communication skills
- Ability to operate office, computer, and communications equipment
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and established call-routing procedures
- Sound judgment, discretion, and the ability to respond calmly in urgent situations
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate patient records
- Experience scheduling outpatient appointments and diagnostic testing preferred
- Experience with Epic or another electronic health record (EHR) system preferred
- Clerical Assistant or related healthcare administrative training preferred
Healthcare Administrative Responsibilities
- Answer telephone inquiries from patients and determine the appropriate next step
- Route patient questions and communications to the appropriate staff member, medical team, or provider using established algorithms
- Obtain patient information and verify the accuracy of electronic health record data
- Schedule office visits, diagnostic testing, and follow-up appointments
- Contact patients regarding upcoming appointments and provide instructions for required preparation
- Document telephone inquiries, complaints, conversations, and actions taken
- Respond to correspondence and process patient requests as needed
- Send appointment letters and maintain organized medical office records
- Perform clerical, typing, data entry, and basic statistical tasks
- Protect patient privacy while delivering courteous, efficient service
- Perform other related medical administrative duties as required
