Overview As an Oncology Physicist, you ensure safe, accurate planning, delivery, and evaluation of radiotherapy while maintaining high standards of equipment performance. You support QA programs, calibrate treatment and simulation systems, and verify dose calculations, acting as the clinic's primary radiation safety resource. You collaborate with leadership on equipment selection, installation, and testing, and you lead training for the Radiation Oncology team. This role offers meaningful impact through rigorous safety and quality control.
Responsibilities- Calibrate radiotherapy treatment, simulation machines, and sealed brachytherapy sources per protocols
- Implement and oversee QA for radiation-producing equipment to ensure performance and patient safety
- Assist Chief Physicist with specifications, installation, acceptance testing, and performance verification of new equipment
- Develop and enforce planning/delivery procedures, including QC of treatment plans and dose calculations
- Manage a system for error prevention and incident learning to minimize patient/staff risk
- Provide training and continuing education for Radiation Oncology staff
Key requirements- Master's Degree
- Certification in Therapeutic Radiological Physics from ABR or ABMP or CCCPM
- CPR certification preferred
- Experience as a radiation oncology medical physicist with linac calibrations and QC, TPS QC, sealed isotope therapy, IMRT planning/delivery, computer systems QC, and medical physics program documentation
- Ability to travel up to 50%
