Laboratory Supervisor-FT-Lab-Provo

Overview

In this role, you lead a high-performing laboratory team at the Provo Main Laboratory, supporting 400+ providers across Utah. You will oversee day-to-day operations, staff development, and regulatory compliance to sustain high-quality, patient-focused service. As a collaborative leader, you balance accountability with a positive work culture and partner with the Laboratory Services Director to ensure efficient, safe, and compliant lab operations. This position supports a value-based care mission by improving outcomes and controlling costs through rigorous quality and process improvements.

Responsibilities
  • Recruit, onboard, train, and evaluate laboratory staff with ongoing feedback
  • Coach, recognize, and support professional growth while encouraging open communication
  • Delegate tasks and monitor accountability
  • Apply clinical lab knowledge to assess operations and suggest improvements
  • Supervise patient testing, equipment maintenance, quality control, and proficiency testing
  • Manage supply and inventory
  • Ensure compliance with CLIA, COLA, and OSHA through collaboration with quality teams
  • Supervise the phlebotomy supervisor and support the phlebotomy team
  • Collaborate with the Laboratory Services Director to maintain efficient, high-quality services and a safe workplace
  • Assess staffing and equipment needs, recalls, proficiency testing, processes, concerns, and growth opportunities
Key requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Medical Laboratory Science, or equivalent qualifying CLIA-approved science degree
  • 2 years of experience in Medical Laboratory Science in CLIA high-complexity testing; 4 years preferred
  • Supervisory/management experience preferred
  • Familiarity with CLIA, COLA, and OSHA regulations
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Basic Life Support (BLS/BCLS) certification or within 6 months of hire
