Overview

As a Senior Resident Engineer, you will lead on-site construction management for water, wastewater, and municipal projects in NYC and the Lower Hudson Valley. You'll coordinate with contractors, clients, and design teams to ensure safe, on-time, and on-budget delivery while meeting regulatory standards. You'll mentor field staff, oversee inspections and documentation, and administer contracts to maintain high quality and safety. This is a hands-on leadership role in a context of sustainable infrastructure delivery. You'll work with cross-functional teams to drive project success and safety culture.

Responsibilities
  • Lead day-to-day construction management for complex water, wastewater, and municipal projects.
  • Serve as primary liaison among contractors, clients, regulators, and design teams.
  • Review plans, RFIs, shop drawings, and design changes for constructability and compliance.
  • Manage and mentor field staff; oversee inspections, documentation, reporting, and contract administration.
  • Oversee daily inspection reporting, recordkeeping, and project deliverables per client requirements.
  • Administer contracts, including change orders, payment applications, and field directives.
  • Monitor performance, safety, quality, schedule adherence; proactively address issues.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental permits, and agency standards; foster a strong safety culture.
Key requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in the State of New York
  • 10 years of experience in a Resident Engineer, Assistant Resident Engineer, or similar construction management leadership role on large capital projects
  • Proven experience managing multiple projects, field teams, and stakeholder relationships in fast-paced environments
  • Leadership, communication, and relationship-management skills for cross-team collaboration
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Project and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
