Overview The Health Services Administrator oversees medical operations in a detention facility, ensuring compliance with government standards and contract requirements. You lead clinical, operational, and security coordination, acting as the main liaison among medical teams, contractors, facility leadership, and government reps. The role covers governance, budget oversight, and quality/risk management to support safe, compliant care. This position offers impact through improving health services in a secure environment.
Responsibilities- Direct daily administrative operations of the healthcare unit, including medical, dental, mental health, and specialty care
- Ensure regulatory, contract, and accreditation compliance (NCCHC, ACA, ICE PBDNS, OSHA, HIPAA)
- Oversee recruitment, onboarding, scheduling, and performance management of medical staff
- Manage budgets and allocation of resources and pharmaceuticals
- Develop and maintain quality improvement, patient safety, and risk management programs
- Coordinate with government customer, prime contractor, and detention facility leadership; provide reports and recommendations
- Coordinate emergency medical response planning and drills
- Ensure timely reporting and documentation of incidents and statistics under the contract
- Maintain safe, clean working environment by complying with regulations
- Perform other duties and projects as assigned
Key requirements- Master's degree in healthcare administration, Public Health, Business Administration, or related field preferred (Bachelor's with significant relevant experience may be considered)
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive leadership experience in healthcare administration, preferably in correctional, detention, military, or government-contracted settings
- Knowledge of federal and state healthcare regulations and government contracting compliance
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills; ability to lead diverse teams in a secure environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and healthcare management systems (EHR, scheduling, inventory)
- Ability to obtain and maintain necessary clearances and credentials for access to detention facilities
- US citizen or permanent resident; resided in the US for 3 years in the past 5 years
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- CPR or BLS and First Aid certification
- Ability to multi-task, be detail-oriented, organized, and have excellent verbal and written communication
