Overview In this role, you will defend insured clients in professional liability, D&O, real estate/title, HOA, and general liability disputes. You will work within the Texas Staff Counsel group to manage cases from intake to resolution, collaborating with adjusters and clients to resolve matters efficiently. You'll handle pre-litigation and litigation tasks, including depositions, discovery, negotiations, and trials, shaping outcomes for a high-caliber practice. Responsibilities- Defend insureds across general liability, real estate/title, HOA, D&O, and professional liability claims
- Independently conduct depositions, discovery, mediations, arbitrations, and trials as needed
- Communicate with claim professionals and clients on case status and evaluations
- Provide legal advice to insureds and claim personnel
- Negotiate settlements as directed and participate in round tables
- Handle pre-litigation and litigation activities from filing to resolution
Key requirements- Licensed to practice in Texas state and federal courts
- 10+ years of civil litigation experience, defense preferred
- Trial experience desired
- Strong knowledge of procedural and substantive law and agency rules
- Ability to analyze issues, develop strategies, and communicate with claims professionals
- Experience preparing pleadings, managing appearances, motion practice, and case valuation
- Willingness to work independently and travel for hearings, depositions, site visits, and trials
