Overview

In this role you will help build and maintain Cooley's knowledge foundations for technology-focused clients. You will design document automation and data models that align with legal processes, working with practice groups and product teams to improve templates, forms, and guidance. You'll lead the creation of practical resources and training, while monitoring legal developments to inform tooling. This is a high-impact role that blends law, technology, and collaboration to scale legal services.

Responsibilities
  • Draft and maintain standard forms, precedents, and guidance for the assigned practice group
  • Coordinate collection, deployment, and maintenance of forms across Cooley's software portfolio
  • Serve as SME for practice group attorneys and cross-functional teams on new tools and data products
  • Prepare thought leadership materials for attorneys and clients on practice group services and software
  • Partner with product managers to prioritize form collection, automation, and testing based on business value and regulatory needs
  • Assist with automation of practice group work products and processes
  • Develop automated testing methodologies for seamless deployment of updated legal language
  • Support usability and accessibility testing to improve user experience for attorneys and clients
  • Identify risks in AI-powered and deterministic software and work on mitigation strategies
  • Promote continuous learning within the group and foster collaboration across departments
  • All other duties as assigned
Key requirements
  • 4+ years of experience as a practicing attorney, preferably at a large law firm
  • Juris Doctor (JD) or non-US equivalent
  • Active bar membership or in-house counsel status in relevant jurisdictions
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and iManage, plus other firm applications
  • Ability to travel and work extended hours as needed
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail
  • Experience structuring forms and templates for easy maintenance
  • Leadership and initiative
  • Excellent communication and collaboration across technical and legal teams
  • Strong risk assessment and problem-solving abilities
