Overview As a Senior Estimator at Stantec, you will lead multi-discipline cost estimation for buildings and facilities, coordinating across estimators, schedulers, and engineers. You'll manage estimates from a global portfolio, spanning commercial to industrial and infrastructure-adjacent facilities, ensuring quality and competitiveness. You'll guide design teams through early project milestones and contribute to risk analysis and procurement activities. Responsibilities- Supervise and coordinate development of multi-discipline cost estimates and construction schedules
- Develop detailed estimates for architectural systems, building envelope, interiors, finishes, doors/hardware, finishes, and related components
- Collaborate with other estimators to develop estimates and schedules
- Coordinate input parameters for estimates and schedules
- Validate material takeoffs and construction quantities from drawings
- Compile information from all estimating disciplines into a single estimate
- Create estimate execution plans with strategy, staffing, and timelines
- Prepare labor-force work plans and basis of cost estimate reports
- Establish site-specific estimating criteria including wage and productivity rates
- Perform quality control of construction documents and propose design improvements
- Support procurement, change and claims valuation and negotiations
- Prepare construction logistics plans and offer innovative problem-solving for estimation issues
- Interface with management and client counterparts for estimating tasks
- Identify and quantify project risks and opportunities for cost/schedule analyses
- Review design documents to identify risks and opportunities for pricing
- Coordinate constructability reviews for engineering designs
- Serve as primary cost-estimating contact for clients and stakeholders
- Maintain awareness of industry trends and incorporate lessons learned to improve estimates
Key requirements- Extensive technical knowledge of cost/estimating, construction practice, and engineering design
- Estimating buildings and facilities across multiple types (commercial, industrial, institutional, etc.)
- Strong expertise in architectural/structural scopes (steel, concrete, foundations, envelope, finishes)
- Multi-discipline estimating experience and coordination across civil, structural, architectural, mechanical, electrical, and other scopes
- Advanced understanding of contract methods and estimating applications
- Experience with specialized estimating software and scheduling tools
- Field experience and preconstruction or design-phase estimating preferred
- Able to travel domestically and internationally as needed
- Proven leadership and mentoring capabilities in estimating teams
- Strong client-facing and communication skills
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a relevant field
- Minimum 10 years in estimating/construction roles
- Professional certifications (asset) such as AACE, RICS, ASPE, PMI, DBIA
