Overview In this role you will support Walters-Morgan Construction's human resources and recruiting efforts to attract, hire, and retain qualified employees across office and field operations. You will work closely with leadership, managers, and staff to manage the full employee lifecycle and maintain a strong candidate pipeline. The position combines hands-on recruiting with HR administration in a fast-paced construction environment. You will help shape the team that supports our water and wastewater projects across Kansas, Nebraska, and Oklahoma. This is an opportunity to own and optimize hiring processes that support company growth and workforce stability.
Responsibilities- Manage full-cycle recruiting from posting to onboarding
- Develop and post openings on job boards and recruitment platforms
- Cultivate relationships with educational institutions
- Source candidates for office, field, skilled trade, and construction roles
- Review resumes, conduct phone screens, coordinate interviews, and communicate with candidates
- Collaborate with hiring managers to clarify staffing needs and qualifications
- Maintain a robust candidate pipeline for current and future openings
- Coordinate pre-employment steps (background checks, drug screens, references, documentation)
- Assist with new hire onboarding and orientation
- Maintain organized employee and recruiting records
- Support employee relations and HR communications
- Assist with policies, procedures, and compliance
- Coordinate training, development, and compliance requirements
- Track recruiting activity, pipelines, and hiring metrics
- Assist with benefits administration and other HR processes
- Support company culture and employee engagement initiatives
- Maintain confidentiality and ensure HR practices align with policies and laws
Key requirements- Previous experience in human resources, recruiting, or talent acquisition
- Experience in construction or industrial environments preferred
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
